Can I fill a data block (DB) from file?

make_it_move Posts: 25 Rating: (1)	Hi, I'm using a datablock with a large array (more than 1000 values). It will be used as a lookup table with fixed values. The values will be calculated by some external program, that could create a file with all the values in it. Is it possible to read the values for the array from a file in stead of typing them in manually? I do not mean writing a program to read a file, but just using a file to set the initial values of the array at program time. For instance with a coma separated list file.

[Alternative method] Or would you rather want to have the values written into the array in a semi-automatic way? Does this help? Other methods exists. You can copy-paste values into a watch table. Alternatively you can create SCL export (generate blocks). Then the SCL code can be modified. Note you can do this type of export with a pure DB also! You can create a spreadsheet to generate code in the format.. A B C 1 0 xxx ="value[" & A1 & "] := " & A3 Column A has values from 0 to 999. Column B has the values you need to get into the array Column C constructs the coding you need to paste into a code block. Then the code text can be re-imported (external source files). Again the solution is simpler then expected.

Dear Ayman Elotaify, Thank you for taking part in this discussion. I however doubt that those STEP7 5.x instructions help as-is for TIA V1x. In TIA the mechanism works differently. It all depends on which columns are shown. One can copy rows from TIA and paste this in spreadsheet. Then the structure shown at that moment is available to a spreadsheet. Next, fill in the spreadsheet and copy back into TIA. Greetings. w
