Can I get -ve values in multi turn absulute encoder

muttu Posts: 16 Rating: (0)	Dear All Iam facing problem by only +ve pulses from the encoder, for example if i am rotating motor in clockwise direction means the pulses are coming +ve values assume that 100 pulse. the same motor i am turning back to its home position the pulses are starts decrementing from 100 to 0. after 0th pulse it is going to its +ve maximum value by this i am facing problem. from 0th Pulse iam expacting -ve maximum value can i get by the bellow encoder. Encoder Specification:Multiturn Version 2.2, Absulute Encoder Thank you in Advance

Thijs Posts: 121 Rating: (16)	What kind off hardware are you using to read the absulute encoder value? Is it a profibus encoder? Check the WH-config it could be a parameter. How are you reading the value as a (D)INT or as a (D)WORD?

Thijs Posts: 121 Rating: (16)	Do you perhaps allso know brand, type etc. from this encoder, could you make a screenshot from all parameter set in the HW-config? With only this info, I can't help you

Thijs Posts: 121 Rating: (16)	I didn't know this one, had to look it up. I've found the manual on this page: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/28813901 . I'm quoting from the manual: Total resolution parameter: The absolute value encoder counts up to the parameterized total resolution and then starts again at 0. (BHA_0705_en.pdf page 4-30) So, it's seems normal behaviour you're getting. Hope this helps
