Can I use IO Address instead of Tag Name?

I have WinCC Advanced SP7 update 4 and TIA v14 and TIA Scout v5.1. My problem is simotion plcs(D425 / D410 / D435) doesn't have lights on their input/output terminals to see the I/O status. I want to show it on the HMI. But variable names changes from project to project. Can I use the IO Address for the animations on the HMI program?
