Can my PCS7 system read data from and stand alone S7-300+SCADA?

razoh Posts: 81 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have a PCS7 system and now I am trying to read data from an stand alone system that includes a CPU S7-300 with a CP343-1 Lean ethernet card and a SIMATIC Panel PC677B. The simatic panel is reading data from the S7-300 using communication TCP/IP. Now I want to try to get some of those tags to be displayed in my PCS7 system. I have a fiber optic connection and I can ping both stations, Plc and HMI. How can I do to get that data, I have read in many post that PCS7 doesn't support S7-300. Can I read from wincc as I do in the HMI? Any idea Thanks in advance for your help

razoh Posts: 81 Rating: (0)	Hi, When you say OPC, you mean using something like Kepware or Matrikon or you mean using OPC Wincc to S7-300? In the remote HMI, the protocolo I am using is TCP/IP, I tried to do the same in PCS7 but I cannot connect to the PLC. I mean I have inserted a new driver connection with the IP address of the remote PLC and I have defined some tags. In runtime I got no connection to PLC. Thanks for your answer

When I create a new OPC server in the PCS7 Wincc, where I define o the IP adress of the remote HMI?? How the PCS7 knows he is talking to the right PC? Is it because of the computer name? Could you explain me how to create that OPC connection? One more thing, what you mean with "communication dito" Thanks for your help

CBo Gold Member Joined: 4/5/2006 Last visit: 3/18/2023 Posts: 917 Rating: (63)	Hi razoh, you have to create a new "OPC channel" in WinCC explorer "Tag managment" on your PCS7 project (make sure DCOMM are correctly configured!!! look under www.opcfoundation.org--> Download --> White Papers) The both station has to be configured in same workgroup and need same user/password configured. OPC server has to be in runtime, if not OPC client (PCS7 project cannot see tag on your panel pc). Continue with configuration described in manua April gave you. Very strange you cannot comunicate directly between PCS7 and S7-300, maybe something wrong in coniguration you made, or maximum connection nr reached (look into S7-300 diagnostic for that). Direct connection between PCS7 and S7-300 is the best way to get information (just create a new connection manually in WinCC explorer "Tag managment -> Simatic Protocol Suite -> TCP/IP" Regards

razoh Posts: 81 Rating: (0)	Hi, Thank you to all of for your help. Finally, I manage to communicate with my stand alone PLC using Wincc. I though the communication was wrong because I was not able to read the actual value in the tag manager (everything was 0), but actually I was reading tags. Next time and without a running plant I will try communication between S7-400 and S7-300 as it seems more useful. Thanks
