Can not establish communication between STEP5 and Sinumerik 810t GA3 CNC

Dear All,

I can not establish communication between STEP5 from my laptop, and Sinumerik 810t GA3 CNC.

My laptop has DB 9 RS232 COM1 port. I used a standard V24 serial cable, with which I can communicate very well with CNC control by WinPCIN software. I have downloaded PLC program in binary format (%PCP file), but I can not open this file with STEP5.

When I try to go ONLINE with STEP5, after I have set machine bits 5010 and 5011(communication parameters) accordingly ,  I get the message "PLC time out" on STEP5.

For STEP5 is necessary another cable? 

On the Installation manual of the Sinumerik, the list of devices which can be linked with the CNC contain only PG programmers, not also STEP5 on the PCs.

 set the controllers baud rate to 9600, your connection is not correct.

I have set machine bits 5011 to 00000111 means 07hex , baud=9600.

My problem is similar to yours: the battery was low, the memory was lost, the PLC back-up is not the right one.  Now, I have to open and correct the PLC program. I have the correct PLC STL printed.

Did you find out how to read in with STEP5 the file "%PCP"?

I don't think you can read the % PCP files, To access ladder file and edit PLC, you need a file named: " ******ST.S5D "

If you have the backup:  " ( %TEA1, TEA2, %PCP )you can reload your controller with " initially clear mode" .

to access Lader Or STL file, you need to have the Step5 Backups.

I have loaded an old back-up (there is not a recent one). Now, the machine has no errors, But I can not move the axes . When I tried to test with PLC status the statements that are printed in documentation, I concluded that the ecuations are not fulfiled correctly. So, I concluded that the PLC program that I have loaded is a similar one, but not the correct one. 

But, I can not connect STEP5 with the Sinumerik to modify the statements, despite I have verified the serial comunication settings also in Step5, also in CNC.

The link works good with WinPCIN. What are the differences when link STEP5 wth the control?

It is first time that I use STEP5. I have some experience with STEP 7.

Its good to hear that you reload your controller. you need to set some setting on the control system and "axual" (Working area sett and sometimes a parameter)  to run your machine. It's Ok.

If you want to edit ladder file on S5, you need to reload your controller and take a backup from S5. 

please tell me about the Version of your Operation system and PC, also S5 connection is sensible, don't use USB, Remove PCI cards if you can, sometimes you need to turn off the Anti-Virus and close the other programs, noise is matter.

In the attachement you have described exactly, word by word the steps I have made to connect my Step 5 with the control. The result is "PLC timeout".

 I also use  Step5 version V7.2, on a Windows XP, laptop, with hardware 9 pin COM1 port.

Stiil, I do not know where I am wrong. May be the setting "COM1 Standard" must be replaced with "COM1", as a response to your question. I will try next time I will be near the machine.

It seems I must pass all the passions, as you done, to solve the problem!

My Windows is XP Professional SP3, and STEP5 is V7.23 HF2, so they are compatible.

Which is the answer at your question: "What you guys thinking about what was my mistake?"
