Can't install original WinCC v6 SP3 Trial DVD that I got from Siemens...

mirkob Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	Hello to all colleagues, I ordered WinCCTrial DVD from Siemens and when I got it I tried to install soft to see the advantages ofWinCC SCADA in comparision with other SCADAsolutions,but...[:mad:] I have installed all necessary applications that are described in users manual that came with the disk, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Queuing, Configuration Tools.After thatI was allowed to install WinCC. Installation started in usual way and everything seamed OK but at the end of installation I got error message "Licensing could not be performed". After that, WinCC was automatically uninstalled! OK, I repeated whole process on other computer and I got same problem. I wonder, whay do I need license (which is not mentioned in installation instructions book) when I want to use Trial version? I would very much appriciate any kind of help with this problem, Kind regards, Mirko

Mehrnoosh Posts: 102 Rating: (9)	Hi Mirko During installation of WinCC, it asks about license (whether you want to move it during installation or later). You have to choose later in this step, because the default option is to move them during installation. Best regards, Mehrnoosh

mirkob Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	Dear Mehrnoosh, Thank you very much for your response. I have a Trial (Demo)version of WinCCv6 SP3 which, by my oppinion,do no require license. As you suggested, I have followed step by step installation and there wasn't option for licensing. This version should work without license for 30 days. I don't know what is wrong, maybe DVD has expired because it is from year 2005? Best Regards, Mirko

You can send a support request to Siemens support team. It is an easy way, or you can wait for some experts to help you in the forum. There must be something on the PC (either hardware or software) but I have no idea what !??It keeps popping up but unfortunately no-one knows what is causing it [:cry:] It is usually on Dell computers but not always. I think it could be an issue with the preinstalled Windows from Dell as they do tweak things here and there but I have no proof of this whatsoever, it's just a hunch. Now when we hear of this problem we just install the full version of WinCC with no licence - it runs in demo mode [:D] Any chance you can ask your local Siemens office this?

Danielle Posts: 1275 Rating: (123)	One of our customers bought a notebook to be his engineering station. When installing the Siemens software we found that WinCC wouldn't communicate. Eventually we realized that there was a compatibility problem with one of the drivers for that computer. We had to format the computer, without installingit's drivers, install WinCCand then install the drivers one by one, to single out the incompatible one. I believe the notebook was Dell, but it may have been HP. Best regards, Danielle

mirkob Posts: 3 Rating: (1)	I have solved my problem by downloading whole WinCC v6 SP4from rapidshare and now I can install and run in demo mode. So, here is download link for demo version http://simatic.net.ru/viewtopic.php?p=1236#1236which works!!! You have to alsodownload and install Win SQL Server 2000 SP4 (for WinCC) before WinCC...
