Can't read item value with OPC

fbelic Posts: 327 Rating: (28)	I'm trying to create simple OPC client application, but I'm stuck. Few months ago I did some experimenting and I have client application that works. Difference between now and then is that then I had a real CPU module (315-2 PN/DP), but now it's not available to me. So first I tried with simulator (S7-PLCSIM), which didn't work, and now I have a PC with WinAC+Simatic NET, that acts as PLC (connection is via Ethernet). In both cases I have same problem. With either my client application or OPC Scout I can't read values of items. I can make connection, but when reading item value, quality and time stamp, I get "Timeout, e. g. due to a broken connection" message. In next few days I hope to test it with previous CPU module, but I would be grateful if anyone had some suggestions. Best regards

Second question I would like to ask would be... could you browse with the OPC functions in the Address range of the WinAC yet? Maybe you could do this by the use of the SIMATIC NET OPC Scout. fbelic Posts: 327 Rating: (28)	Sorry, I don't understand question about TSAP. I have two projects with identical S7programs. One projet with PC station that has IE General in slot 2 and OPC server in slot 3. OPC server has S7 connection with PC. This configuration worked when I was connected to real CPU. The other project I've created as described in 20987361_WinAC_KK_DOKU_v10_e.pdf (S7 communication with WinAC RTX and S7-300 via Industrial Ethernet) and has WinLC RTX in slot 2 and IE General in slot 3. I download second project to PC with WinAC and it works with myWinCC flexible project as it would with real CPU. When I try to connect to it with OPC, it doesn't work. I can connect to OPC.SimaticNET (local) server with OPC Scout and I can add symbols that I configurated, but I can't read their values. Next week I'll be able to test it with CPU, I'll write here about results. Best regards

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear fbelic, I am sorry but what I wanted to know was if you downloaded the NetPro Configuration with the S7-Connections you use to the PC Station and the WinAC you work with. You need to download the connection to both partners because there the TSAP Parameters are set correctly. If you only have a single sided configured connection on the OPC side this would have to work too... but I am not sure what type of Connection you use and what the TSAPs are you use. How about posting both Projects in this Thread? Best regards J_Bell

fbelic Posts: 327 Rating: (28)	Sorry for the delay in replying. I've studied documentation more seriously this time, so I understand your questions about TSAP. I've also tried several things (different TSAP, unconfigured connection...) but none showed any progress. Also, I tried connecting to real CPU (the one I worked with in first place) and I couldn't get values even from it, although it worked before. But I think that was because of my experiments with TSAP. I've attached both projects so you can check it, one in this post and one in next one. "OPC" is same as the one I worked last week, minus DBs, FCs, additional hardware, etc. I've tried creating a simple SCADA with WinCC flexible and it works normally when connected to PC with WinAC. I would disable the active connection establishment on the WinAC to get the system to work. By the way, is there any reason why you insist on the TSAP 10.13? Well, I guess it is a system preset. fbelic Posts: 327 Rating: (28)	Greetings I've tried to disable active connection on WinAC side, but it didn't help. Yes, 10.13 was a default TSAP. Anyway, it turns out this is not so big problem, since I can use DEMO connection for developing client application. But real problem now is that I can't connect to my CPU. Step7 project is similar to "OPC" project I've posted here, only it has some additional hardware and more blocks, of course. I add to it "SIMATIC PC Station" with "OPC server" and "IE general" communication, then connect it to CPU in NetPro. I've tried making a specificied and unspeceficied connection but nothing helps. If it helps, in "S7 Connection Diagnostic" tool, I get error no. 16. And for TSAP, first number (for local and remote) can be 3, 10, 11... Best regards, Filip Belic
