Can't read UDP broadcasted packets by CP 343-1 Lean

Rem2 Posts: 52 Rating: (1)	Hello everyone, Please, help me to find right way. There is a PCapplication that generates constant broadcasting stream of UDP packets with destination address 2.255.255.255 through ethernet port with IP 2.1.1.3 mask 255.0.0.0 (packets can be seen by net sniffer program). I need to read these packets by SIMATIC program. I'm trying to do it by CP 343-1 Lean with SEND / RECIEVE interface, to be more specific by FC6 "AG_RECV". But recieve buffer has been always empty, STATUS word have always the code 16#8180 ("There is no data available yet"). All settings seems to be correct (at least no ERROR bit). My fear is that I read in manual about some restrictions concerning broadcasting reading. I'd like to ask you, if what I try to do is possible in this way or maybeit should beanother one? Please, give me a hint. Regards.

So I think it is more to do with the implementation or configuration. 1. Can you please explain how you have setup the whole connection in the netpro (just teh screenshot should help). 2. Have you had a look at the diagnostics of the CP343 Lean card in the module infomration? What does it say. 3. Why have you chosen UDP packets and not TCPIP packets? TCPIP would be connection oriented and more precise in the diagnostics infomrations. Kris

Rem2 Posts: 52 Rating: (1)	Hi Kris, Thank you for your answer. 1. In NetPro I have set the unspecified connection, type UDP, and put the remote IP address and port no. (screenshots attached). Port no. I learned from description of protocol and it can be viewed from network sniffer. This connection has assigned number 1, soFC6 parameter ID has also been assigned the value 1. IP addresses has a class A format (mask 255.0.0.0) - it is a requirment of protocol. 2. Dignostic window says that connection is OK. Maybe I look in the wrong window, if so- please, correct me. (screenshots attached). 3. What about UDP instead of TCP/IP packets, this is a feature of protocol, notmy choice.Protocol uses UDP broadcasted packets and all devices in this local net should recieve these packets and take the values from specific bytes according to there addresses in the net. Only that we need the screenshot of the diagnostics with the "Connections" branch expanded and you can see there the status of the external connections. I am not sureif this has anything to do with the problem. But just give it a try. Try changing the mask to 255.255.255.0 for the PLC nad the application point. Otherwise nothing else come to my mind.. Will write again if I can think of something. Krish

I tried to change mask as you suggested but unfortunately no succeess. I will be happy tohear from you if there is anything else to suggest about my problem. I will verify it by making a similar setup on our system. But could you send a screen shot on just that part of the code where you have used the AG_RECV block, meanwhile? (you can mask the othercode lines in thejpg file if you want to). Krish
