Can use CU310-2PN and PM340 together?

Hello:

I have the following problem, I need support

CU310-2PN with RDY light steady orange with PM340

I am using a CU310-2PN 6SL2040-1LA01-0AA0 blocksize and a PM340 module 6SL3210-1SB14-0UA0. when powered up, CU310-2PN RDY LED light stays orange forever.
Can somebody help me out on that. Can I use CU310-2PN and PM340 as above together. Some documentations say I need  PM240-2, while other say I can use PM340.
I do not have another CU-310 or PM modules.

Thank you all for the replies. I am currently out of country and will give your more information about that. My CU310-2PN has CF card FW4.008 ( If I remembered it correctly). When I connected or disconnected PM340, the CU310 got the same status with RDY light on orange. I read ChistoPhD forum before, and I suspected that PM340 module might fail. It is also possible that CU310-2PN failed. I can ping my CU310-2PN.

I am not very familiar with Siemens S120 servo system. I am pretty good with Step7 even Step5 PLCs.

Does PM340 need a firmware as well and it has to be the same with CU310 ?

It has been a while since last login. I was out of country for a while. This is a follow-up of the last thread.

I was able to configure that CU310-2PN with power module PM-340 with a solid green RDY light . For CU310-2PN, you have to use Starter to configure, not startdrive. It took me a hard time to install starter V4.5.1 into my laptop win7 32 bit. Finally I have to install sizer first then install Starter ( I got this tip from online).

It seems StartDrive is not compatible with CU310. This is my self training unit so I am not rush to set it up.

Well I think Siemens software has more problem installing and uninstalling compared to Rockwell software.

you are right regarding CU310-2 and Startdrive - CU310-2 is not yet supported in Startdrive and you must use Starter to commission it.

Regarding installation: from my side I never had issues installing any of the Siemens software (Starter, Sizer, Step7, TIA) to my Notebooks (Win7 and Win10) - so I would not say your issue is a general issue.

I have never installed starter before. For the last step, it is showing a screen configuration is being created and it takes a few minutes, something like that. I was waiting there for half hour for the couple of first time and I thought it was hanging around there. I used task manager to abort it. But the software is not working. I have to uninstall it and it is same thing only one screen is showing and hang there. No one knows what is going on there.

I have little knowledge about programming windows application software. But you let users to wait there for more than half hour and you should showing something is going on there.

Finally installation I just go to sleep and next morning it is finished.

My starter is still working but when it starts up, it gives some error message.

I started using Siemens from S5, PG675 programing unit. I like Siemens PLC programming. Now I am in Canada. I do not use Siemens a lot due to market.
