can we use ethernet module 443-1EX20-0XE0 with cpu 414-4HJ00-0AA0(v 2.1.3)

Maha Posts: 118 Rating: (4)	Dear All, we have old cpu with part number 414-4HJ00-0AA0(v 2.1.3) in our stock, we have to use it for one low cost project. we need to buy the ethernet module for that. can we use ethernet module (443-1EX20-0XE0) with the above mentioned cpu.

Few things to add that will not contradict with what UMENCHOhad said but you can read the following if you like to increase your knowledge. The CP 443-1EX20 can be a direct replacement for CP443-1EX11 without changing the hardware configuration for H-CPUs that have firmware version 4.0 or newer. That's what you can read in page B-34 in CP443-1EX20 manualand in the following FAQ, What should you watch out for when changing from previous modules to the successor module CP443-1 (6GK7 443-1EX20-0XE0) or CP443-1 Advanced (6GK7 443-1GX20-0XE0)? Now, back to your CPU you will find that it's LITTLE BIT OLD and the latest firmware version available for this CPU is V3.1.5and here we come to the STOP. Best regards. H-H

Now I have some doubts, Question 1: The CP 443-1EX20-0XE0, we can only use with CPU having firmware version V4.0(H-Series), but the CPU(414-4HJ00-0AA0) can be upgraded only up to V3.1.5, So, is it meaning that we can't use 1EX20 CP for this CPU? If yes, then what will be the result for the people still having the old CPU's in there plant (when we got some problem in ethernet module 1EX11)? since 1EX11 also already outdated from siemens. Question 2: As per the link mentioned above by H-H, its giving that New CPU 6ES7414-4HJ00-0AB0 (V3.1.5) available in the market. What CP 443 we can use for this H Series? as per the above document given by H-H 1EX20 only support the version above V4.0 (H-Series) and 1EX11 is already outdated.
