Hi Guys, Here's hoping. I have a project which uses S7-1200 cpus. They arrive to me, pre-programmed and I just put in any updates, hardware config changes etc. Unfortunately, the last one arrived unprogrammed. I cannot get TIA Portal 13 to see it. I cannot see it using the S7-1200 IP tool either. I tried pinging it, but that fails as well. I am not an expert with siemens plcs so I wonder if there is some really basic step I am missing here. I have tried plugging in through a switch and going straight into the cpu, neither works. I can ping the unit and it says the destination host is unreachable. I can then move the laptop to a unit which is already set up and ping it with 100% return, so I know it's not the laptop's network setup. The LED on the cpu is orange. Is there some magic way to get a basic IP config into the unit or does it arrive with a default one? I am attempting to use 192.168.0.1. Thanks in advance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |

In the bottom of the project tree below your plc in the portal project is a section called "Online access". Click the arrow to the left of it. Wait (a lot longer than you might think you need to) for the available adapters on your PC to appear. Select the one that your network cable is plugged into for your PLC. Click the arrow to the left of that adapter. Now magic happens if you double click the "Update accessible devices". I think with the appropriate amount of F1-help once you do that double click, you will find the plc either appears, or does not appear. if it does not appear, it is likely defective. If you can transfer a PLC program to a memory card made for S7-1200, then insert that memory card into this PLC, you *may* be able to resurrect it from the dead.
