Cannot simulate or even download the program into the HMI

Hi,

I hope you can help me.

I cannot simulate or even download the program into the HMI. 

I've done every step from the top post, ran WinCC Unified Configuration few times, created the project tree etc, but when I'm trying to go to the simulation mode I don't see the 'Load' window but Download to extend pops up showings 127.0.0.1 as IP address and no matter what i try it won't connect.

Then when I try to download anything into HMI it doesnt work either. I've added the device in the network, made connection to plc etc but I cannot assign the device name - it comes with an error that device type is different and assign feature is not supported. When trying to go online (IP address is set in HMI and i can see it in accessible devices) it searches the hmi but highlights the IP address and doesnt allow to go online.

I've been working with dozens Comfort Panels before and never had any issues with configuration or simulation... 

Any ideas what I am doing wrong or what's the best/easiest way to add HMI into project?

If you do your PC static IP like 192.168.10.1 then maybe you can download and change any parameter did you try that?

I've tried both static and dynamic IP address set on my laptop, doesn't look it changes anything.

I can see all devices as accessible and can assign names to all of them apart from the HMI, it keeps saying the device type is different (can I change that?) so it looks to me that there is some issue but I have no idea where to look... Do I need to change some settings on the panel itself?

Make sure your settings in the control panel 'Transfer' settings are set to allow project download from the port you are using on the panel itself.

Ok, I got this sorted.

I've tried everything related to network/connection and was getting always same result - 'Device type is different', no possibility to go online, network options disabled (greyed out) in the Extended Download to Device. After spending all day on this I decided to re-install the TIA Portal then realised there is an update (UPD3) so I've downloaded and installed the update first.

When opened the project the HMI got connected straight away with no issues.

Anyway thank you all for your suggestions.

Yes the Siemens site appears normally but HMI simulation doesn't work. All works fine on the real panel but whenever I try to go to simulation I get stuck on Extended download to device window. 
I have two panels in my project (Comfort and Unified Comfort), one old panel simulates normally, the Unified one doesn't. 

I've tried all PG/PC interface types, direct connection and nothings seems to be working.
I ran Configuration software again, double checked the PG/PC interface in control panel.

Is there something I am missing in there?

When you want to simulate your project, you click on Start simulation (see atachment).

Looking at your last screenshot, it seems you're using Download to Device instead.

Yes, that is exactly what happens when I click 'start simulation' icon  - It opens the Extended download to device window. 

For reference, when I went to simulation mode on PLC (PLCSIM) for the first time, it kind of worked the same way, so I click on simulation icon and Extended download window appeared. But I was able to select the interface (PLCSIM) and load the project so it went to simulation with no issues. Now when I click start simulation it runs straight away, without the extended download window, so I assume it's maybe for the first 'setup'.

Don't really remember how it worked for the standard Comfort panel as I set it up years ago and it works ok and straight away even when I migrate the old project from V15 to V16, I don't need to setup anything it just works fine...

This is the error I'm getting when trying to start simulation:

Error during loading - Loading will not be performed because preconditions are not met (see attached).

I'm really confused, do I need to set up a local IP address for the simulation? I watched few videos on YT about the simulation and there was no mention of IP address, it just worked straight away.

For reference, I have S7-1200 PLC and MTP700 HMI, connected directly in the network PN/IE (not as the PC station and Scada RT as I don't have the license). PLC - HMI communications works ok, no issues.

IP addresses:
PLC: 192.168.10.1
HMI: 192.168.10.6
Laptop: 192.168.10.200

My HMI uses the access point S7ONLINE which has the following configuration in PC/PG interface:

S7ONLINE (STEP 7) ->  Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller.TCPIP.Auto.1.<Active> 

I use these settings for ages, never had issues with standard Comfort Panel.

Even when I download someone's project, the simulations doesn't work. I click on 'start simulation' and a get the following window:
Start Simulation

Has anyone had a similar problem or has an idea what is wrong in my setup?
