CBA system. Possibility of migration.

But I wonder whether it possible to migrate to TIA portal or replace existing controller with modern one in case of breakdown or in expansion purpose?

Jeff Stones Posts: 9 Rating: (1)	The short answer is NO, it would seem that CBA is now doomed andis no longersupported by TIA Portal. However, features like PROFINET I-Device, shared Device, IO Controller & I-device at the same time (which are now available in at least Siemens CPU's) can be used to "mimick" the CBA concept.

As far as I understood I should forget about any migration and expansion so it looks like "frozen" system? Another good question what I have to do in case of PLC breakdown? Most of them are discontinued now, I mean CPU315 and CPU317.

Have a look here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/36816526 It is a PLC 317, it is not discontinued and it is able to use CBA with it. So at the moment you are fine replacing the PLCs.
