Central SCADA station for S5-PLC's

RajD Advanced Member Joined: 8/2/2010 Last visit: 4/1/2024 Posts: 45 Rating: (1)	Hi, I have two S5-PLC CPU 948-B with independent WinCC SCADA stations connected to PG port with TTY converter to PC Com Port. Now I want to add one common SCADA station for both the PLC's? How I can acheive this? How will be the architecture & communication philosophy? Thanks & Regards

It will communicate with your existing SCADA's through the network. As per this solution there will be 2 Servers with required licences & 1 Client of 128 PT licence. Two servers will communicate directly with S5-PLC & common client will communicate these servers over LAN. Am I correct? Thanks

To spare one server license you could also let your central WinCC communicate with the PLC's and the other existing connecting to this server. But this option is pending on your actual system structure and is maybe not possible. Disadvange would be a problem with this one server. Then your whole system would be affected. Yeah, having two servers will not affect the existing structure but is a bit more costly.
