But then again TIAP is intended for factory automation only.... and not process automation. Seems that Siemens belive that CFC is of no use in FA, They should implement itASAP......

This means that there will be a need for PCS7 for TIA Portal, which implies that there will be CFC for TIA Portal too. The big question is when is this likely to happen. Only Siemens IIA can answer that.

What is the reason that FBD is not sufficient??? Usab CFC is much more powerful than FBD. SIMATIC PCS7 and SIMADYN-D rely heavily on CFC. Eventually if TIA has to replace SIMATIC Manager, it would need to support CFC for upgradation of existing projects at least ( If not more ) I hope SIEMENS has a comprehensive plan for replacement of SIMATIC Manager ( With all its options ) with TIA The current trend of having a new version to deal with every few months is quite annoying to say the least. TIA could have been so much better ... but that is another story .... Cheers Navnag

Cheers Navnag I don't think it is the goal for TIAP to replace SIMATIC Manager, although it might be the original plan....Today I see TIAP as engineering platform for factory automation and process automation applications are no longer inthe scope, so PCS7 will not come into TIAP I believe.In regards toSIMADYN-D, itis not part of TIAP and it probably will not be. The only thing left would be the FM458 applications which could be covered by high end 1500, that is where CFC makes a little sense. It is just my opinion, am I missing something? Usab
