Hi Arian-A, the setting you mentioned is for how long the cycle time of OB1 can be before the CPU goes to stop, (in this time the OB1 has to be processed at least onces). Per default is the setting 6s. I have never changed this settings, because normally all blocks and the update of the inputs and outputs are programmed in the cyclic OBs (OB30-OB38) and if the cyclic interrupt OB is called but the processing from the previous OB call isn't finished you get error and the CPU goes stop or overload behavior . And if you will use a CPU 410-5H you can't change parameter. And yes, we don't need the OB1. All normally all blocks (except CEMAT) are in the cyclic OBs (OB30-OB38) and programmed in a defined time interval. And the update of the input and outputs is done via process image partitions. With the process image partitions you can assign the inputs or outputs to a specific OB. For example the partial process image 1 is assigned to the OB35. So every time the OB35 is called the inputs and outputs of the partial process image 1 is updated. In general, the PCS 7 Compendium Part A describes very well how to get started in PCS 7.
