TIA-V15.1   SystemFunction:  Program_Alarm.   AlarmText Need to be changable at instance DB.

See attachment PLC source program created by V15.1.

Normally, alarm text can only change or define at FB Static. And if you go to instance DB, check the program_alarm type, alarm text is blocked/ gray-color, means, you can NOT change this.

But this time, my attachment, you can see that program alarm text, color is white, means you can change the alarm text.

My question is , how can this happen? how can I do to acheive same function?(change alarm text at DB)

Can you please advise as to what the answer to your question about how the alarm text was editable. I have the problem of the  alarm text field being greyed out. You have stated that it was understood and solved, but not why / how?

for Program_Alarm, the alarm text can only be modified in "PLC supervisions & alarms > Alarms > Program alarms" and not in the instance-DB or FB, correct?

The only thing you can manage in the FB is to set one or more of the additional texts which can be used in the alarm text itself.

Okay i just found myself the solution

I'm french so sorry for the translation : You have to go to tools, settings, PLC alarms and check the first parameter "show lock icon" (here is the bad translation) and uncheck the second parameter "enable lock function to new alarms".

Then you go to "plc alarm" in your project overview, and you can unlock the alarms text you want

when it's unlock, go to your DB and you can now modify your alarm.

Short Version...

You can add dynamic parameters to alarm texts under the PLC Supervisions & Alarms to the alarm text property of the Program_Alarm.

Depending on the configuration and complexity of your program you can use the SI_i inputs of the Program_Alarm to help TIA Portal short list your dynamic tags (I think, someone please confirm). 

Long Version (for education purposes)...

First create your program alarm variable in an FB.

Next assign a trigger to your alarm variable.

(In Picture: Step 1)

Go to the PLC Supervisions & Alarms and then select the Alarms tab at the top right on the window.

Here you can see your program alarm, and you will have the ability to edit the Alarm Text, any additional texts, other languages etc.

Select your alarm (My Alarm in the example), open its properties and choose basic.
Here you will see the alarm text that you would statically define.

If you right click you will be given options to add some dynamic parameters (tag, list list, and text list tag).

Select the Insert Dynamic Parameter (Tag) option...

When you do this you will have an option to select a tag and define the display type.

Now depending on the complexity of the program you are adapting this to different things can happen here.

NOTE FOR DEV TEAM: In this basic example you will get a list of in build function calls (I think that may be a bug in TIA, I am not sure. Perhaps a dev can follow along and see if they replicate this?? TIA V17 UPD 4...) but I will also list different FB, DB as well a tags defined in the FB that contains the call to the instance of the Program_Alarm (My Alarm in this example).

At this moment I have not defined a tag to actually insert so lets do that, while we are at it lets actually generate an instance in Main for 'FB Containing Program Alarm' so we can actually use it.

Create a new tag either in the FB itself or in a new block (to simply represent 'somewhere else in the program'). For this example I will create a new DB with a text tag.

Call 'FB Containing Program_Alarm from Main. TIA will ask to create a DB to contain its data, allow it do so.

(In Picture: Step 4)

Go back to PLC Supervisions & Alarms, add (or edit) the Dynamic Parameter (Tag) in Alarm Text.

Under Process, set the tag to the DB which holds the text tag you created.

Under Format, set the type to text (or to the appropriate type for the tag you created).

And that's it. I will leave you imagination and requirements to deal with how you can use this to your advantage.

SD_i Shenanigans and question

Where _i simply means _1 to _10...

For those adept at using arrays and such things. Using the SD_i inputs of the Program_Alarm (especially when the assigned tag to the SD_i inputs is itself an array) allows you to use the dynamic parameter (tag) feature. For some reason when I try to use arrays of program alarms it becomes impossible to assign a tag to the parameter, but if you assign the tag in program code using the SD_i it will appear in the Tag Drop down. Note however that I can only get it to work for the first instance of an arrayed Program_Alarm, if anyone knows how to make it work for all instances I would really appreciate someone letting me know how or if its not actually possible.

Program_Alarm is super useful, but it can be improved. Adding support for acknowledging individual alarms without the long winded approach of using external PLC's or trying to hack in to the mechanisms that drive Program_Alarm, defining texts more easily at runtime etc would really be a huge step forward along with some clearer documentation. I know your all busy on TIA V19 but if you get a moment please add it to your wish list... pretty please :)

I'm using different way to dynamize alarm texts in Program_Alarm. 

SCL:
#Program_Alarm(SIG := #prch.vstp, SD_1 := #textAlarm);

then in Alarm configuration Alarm text: @1%s@

This will forward parameter SD_1 to Alarm text.

#textAlarm is Wstring variable
