SB1986M Posts: 13 Rating: (0)	Hello, I am using TIA V11 and I am trying to find my way back into the S7-300 programming. There is something that is really annoying for me. If I type in the adress, i.e. for a contact (E136.3 or similar) the software will create Tags on its own. Due to the reason that I have to remove and or change a lot of these contacts I would like to free up the unused tags. It is annoying to see that the first contact uses Tag_7 because I had to delete a few contacts... How can I reset the assignment of all Tags ? How can I manage them? I cant open tha assignment list, it is grey and cant be pressed on. I hope you understand my question. Thank you

yy1 Gold Member Joined: 3/24/2009 Last visit: 7/9/2024 Posts: 535 Rating: (112)	Dear SB1986M, The auto-creation of tags can't be disabled., but you can change adresses of a tag in the "PLC tags" -> (Your / Default)Tag table. If you open the cross-reference-list in the info-area, you can see, whether a tag is used or not. I'd suggest to define the tags (with meaningful names) before your write the code (habe a look at this thread). If you want to rewire the adresses later, the tag-table is very useful. If you delete a tag from a contact in the block where you use the contact, that tag is still in the tag table, so if you use a new address somewhere else at another contact, the next number will be assigned to the new tag name. So if you delete Tag_6 wich is E136.3 from the contact, and add a new contact with address E136.4, the new tag name will be Tag_7. If you delete Tag_6 and E136.3 from the tag table, then the new name for E136.4 will be Tag_6. I do not know, however, why you cannot open the tag table ( I asume that "assignment list" means tag table). In the project tree, if you extend the "PLC tags" there should be at least 3 entires: Add new tag table, Show all tags, and Default tag table. Anyway, a good practice is to use meaningful names for your tags! If you do not want to do that, then in the tag table you can assign tag names to consecutive addresses much like in Excel: select the first tag name and with the left mouse button pressed, select the cells below the first tag. (as many cells as you need) BR
