Changing boot order on IOT2050 advanced

Marty_123 Regular Member Joined: 9/8/2015 Last visit: 6/9/2023 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi, I read a post on here a while ago showing a picture of the USB to UART cable along with the settings and cmd instructions required to change the boot order of the IOT2050 advanced from the eMMC to the micro SD card but can't seem to find it anywhere could you or somebody please help with these. Power off the IOT2050 At first connect the UART cable like this: Then open putty with the following settings: Of course the COM port can differ on your system (check device manager in Windows). Power on the IOT2050 Wait until Hit any key to stop autoboot appears and hit any key. You got two seconds for that Now you are in the so called u-boot shell (=>) To boot from SD card once prompt the command run boot_cmd mmc0. To change boot order prompt the command setenv boot_targets mmc0 mmc1 usb0 usb1 usb2 and make the change persistent with saveenv mmc0 is the SD card; mmc1 is the eMMc. Of course you can switch the order like you want to have it. Best regards!

Marty_123 Regular Member Joined: 9/8/2015 Last visit: 6/9/2023 Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hi, Thank you for your response, unfortunately my cable was not delivered in time this morning, but i have managed to set the IOT 2050 up using a monitor and key board but cannot seem to get into the bios to change the boot sequence to the mmc0 (SD) I have attached a picture to show the screen as we see it, if you could help with this it would be appreciated. bergmanu Platinum Expert Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 12/1/2023 Posts: 3294 Rating: (368)	Hi, sorry, but I can't read anything on your picture. The u-boot shell is only accessible via UART cable. You need to get the file fw_env.config (from here) and copy it to /etc in order to change the boot order from the running system. Unfortunately this file is missing in Industrial OS, but available in Example Image. After having the file copied you can change the boot-order with fw_setenv boot_targets mmc0 mmc1 usb0 usb1 usb These changes are persistent automatically. Best regards!
