Changing parameters of the LOGO! from a PC

crvz Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hi everyone, I´ve been asigned to design a timing control system for a special oven. I´d like to know if there is a way in wich I can change the parameters of the timers of the LOGO from a PC without usign the Soft Comfort (e.g. to change the delay time of a block from 20 min to 10 min from the PLC). It is for there will be people using this controller that may not be quite familiarized with neither the software nor the 0BA7. So I would like to give them an, even more easy, way to control and change parameters of the designed control system. (I know that I can do that with the iOS and the Android app, but I want something more like LOGO monitor but being able to change values as I said). And is there a way to buy the license to Siemens via web? Any way I guess I´ll finish buying the full package kit. Hope I explained myself well, Thanks C.

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1182)	Hi there. From a user standpoint - I would not be too happy to grab a PC to make some timer changes. There is the option to use the built-in screen on the LOGO! to create user pages for making adjustments available. I use that regularly. With the LOGO! inside the cabinet you also ensure only some have access to it. BUT you will have to make sure of the safety factors so that someone does not cause harm to himself while doing such changes. Alternatively would this suit you?.. {link} Greetings. w

crvz Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Thanks. I assume there´s not much of a way to develop like an .exe window that may change the values in an easy way. And yeah, I had thought of using a TD but it makes it kind of more expensive. Anyway the decision will make it the money guy. Aaaand where can I program the text displays in the logo, for built in display? I mean, I checked for it on the demo soft comfort but I couldn´t find where to design this. And so, with this option; is there a way for people to change a value in one block without going into the block parameters (all through built in display and bottons)? Thanks again.

William_B Posts: 5225 Rating: (1182)	Hi-ya, You are the "king" of your own project.. you can decide how you want to run it. I offer my opinion for the alternative. I am the wrong guy to ask about linking LOGO with PC with a user designed PC program. But design custom communication programs may as well cost you more in the long run. At least with the hardware you know what the costs are. It is also more natural to have as a user interface. That is my experienced opinion. But then again your client may be less rough-and-tough than my clients. [smile] The text display gets its messages from the LOGO.. also you use the same mechanism to put messages on the built-in display of the LOGO. Please look at the [LINK]. Come back and tell us if the text display is not an option. I am sure there will be someone here that will be able to help you out. Greetings. w

By the way if you use the searchfield in the upper right corner i'm sure you find plenty examples of what you planned to do. Here is one to start with. Setting timer value from Keys regards, Marcjan

Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, offcorse there is a way to control and/or change parameters from a PC. But a OPC-Server is needed and a Client has to be programmed. Siemens offers SIMATC Net OPC Server. As a client WinCC SCADA can be used. But however the costs are not in the price range of LOGO!. There is a free OPC-Server available canned LIBNODAVE. This is an open source PC-Server and can communicate to LOGO! because most of the non Siemens App use this OPC-Server. I do not have more infomration or experiances with this OPC-Server. I have seen a lot of plogs in the SPS-Forum. Goolge for "libnodave" and you should find more information. If you can wait till end of August, then LOGO! 8 will be available. Any LOGO! base module will have a integrated Web-Server based on TD. So if you create a message text in teh LOGO! programm allow you to chang ethe parameters, then you can also change it using the Web-Server from PC, Smartphone or Tablet. I hope this helps

But I was asked to see if there was any way to implement it. Also I´m using the cursor keys already. Thanks once again. C.
