dudu_br Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	Hello experts ! I am runing a little test at work, and I am wondering if there is any way to do a "ping" function in TIA portal V11? I have a S7-1200 PLC (1214 DC/DC/DC) and a laptop. Both connectet to the same network(work netowrk). I want the PLC to give me a bit if my laptop is unpluged from the network. Do you have any solutions?

Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	Hi, this is not possible with any TIA Portal function, but you can create an own application on PC using native TCP connection. The PC will establish the connection to the PLC and the PC will set the bit continuously. The PLC will reset this bit each 5 seconds. If the bit goes down the PC or the application can't reach the PLC. You can use following blocks to realize the function: How do you program the communication blocks FB63 "TSEND", FB64 "TRCV", FB65 "TCON" and FB66 "TDISCON" in order to use the TCP protocol for data exchange by means of the integrated PROFINET interface of an S7-300 or S7-400 CPU?

Connectivity status can be checked by using connecyivity tool avaialabke for 1200. you can use that for assign IP address also

Nelliyan randy Posts: 461 Rating: (29)	I just thought like for ex : plc 192.168.255.0 Hmi 192.168.255.1 Drive : 192.168.255.2 If my drive got unplugged from my network because of any loose connection or cable fault , can i get a status or bit (so that this device has got unplugged from network ) In detail: If our working tcp connection was not working, while using the tcon we will not get the done bit signal, so means of using this done bit absence we can display in hmi as communciation error or check connection.. so expecting this type of feedback from plc hope u understood my question Regards, Nelliyan.G

dudu_br Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	The ideea is that I want the PLC to give a bit if a certain IP ADDRESS in network is not responding. Not only if the PLC is unpluged from Ethernet network.. For example I have a S7-1200 PLC with 5 ATV61 drives and 2 PC's, all of them connected to PLC via ethernet. Each drive and each PC has its own IP address. If a PC is unpluged from the network from various reasons, I want the PLC to give me a bit (in my case an output wich is wired to a red led, representing network fault).

My suggestion was using the Send/receive interface and establish only the TCP connection and check the connection state via Status Words. Maybe anyone has an easier idea, but i don't know. Sorry. Ping isn't possible by PLC program.
