Dear Support,

I am doing some investigations on which driver(s) support tag based addressing (eg. Pump001_Running) rather than DB based addressing (eg. DB150,8) between CitectSCADA/InTouch and Siemens S7 300/400 PLC. Our system will upgrade to this kind of addressing so that PLC, SCADA and Historian can use same tag name for all.

Could any guru tell me what driver can used between following combination of SCADA/PLC that support tag based addressing, please?

CitectSCADA to S7 300/400?
InTouch to S7 300/400?

My suggestion would be to use SIMATIC Net OPC server (Softnet S7 or hardnet S7).
The server can offer symbolic addressing, and the used symbols can be the one used in you Step7 program.

Citec can be OPC Client and other OPC Clients could reach the same symbols.
Have o look to:
Data Communication between S7 Station and PC Station, using SIMATIC NET OPC Server

Citec would play the role of the PC (being OPC client).

For the new S7-1500 PLCs, as of FW 2.0, the OPC server can be run in the PLC itself.

If Intouch can be OPC Clinet, will work.
The OPC server supports several OPC Clients at the same time.
