playerslight Posts: 1064 Rating: (72)	I have a s7 416 acting as a data collector and want to sync all my clocks . I have the s7-416 set as master in the hardware config and the time interval set to 10 sec's (just to try it).in each of the cp 443-1 i have them set to forward the time of day. in ob 1 i am calling sfc48 every scan . in the remote plc's i have them set to as slave .Is there any thing i missed .al these plc's have a tcp/ip connection and are exchanging data but i can not get the clocks to sync,and one more thing there is a variety of s7400 and s7300 plc if that makes a difference

manmeet Gold Member Joined: 1/3/2006 Last visit: 2/19/2024 Posts: 726 Rating: (71)	Hi, Instead of configuring Master, would suggest you to define a NTP server and all PLC's will synchronize themselves with this server. Pre conditions is that all PLC's shall be on ether n/w though.

playerslight Posts: 1064 Rating: (72)	All my plc's are on the ethernet so is it software i have to run on the server ' i do have wincc on the server to collect the data and send it out on web navigator. But 1 thing i have read is that ntp is not as accurate as using simatic mode

It can be done for XP and also other windows server OS like 2003,2008. Settings of all OS can be found on www. In PLC you need to give IP address of NTP server in hardware configuration. About accuracy I have used this set up in of the project and works good. Once PLC's are synchronized then HMI's can be brought in using tags, its easy.

I have done it with WinCC using a C script. In PLC you need to give IP address of NTP Server. What is the source for your time. There are also GPS clock with NTP. Check out Meinberg GPS.

playerslight Posts: 1064 Rating: (72)	Ok I have my time sync working on ntp with 2 s7 400 and i s7 300 .the s7 400 time is right to the server but the s7 300 is lagging by 1 hour . all 3 plcs are set the same -5:00 gmt and using th esame server address .Is there something i'm missing or is the s7 300 i have to fudge the time setting
