CM 1241, communication between PLC and DCS

vinayak_parab Experienced Member Joined: 11/19/2016 Last visit: 3/9/2025 Posts: 38 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have used CM1241 (RS485) Module to communicate with HMI for through Modbus. but now for the same PLC I want to communicate with DCS which is having same RS 485 Communication protocal. What I have to do for establishing communication between PLC and DCS. DCS will only monitor PLC Values. Can I use one more CM1241 in the same PLC and configure that for communicating with DCS?? Will it support 2 RS 485 Modules ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Split from CM 1241 RS485 Modbus RTU.

Duris_I Diamond Expert Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 2/24/2025 Posts: 10832 Rating: (836)	Hello, you need another CM, it will better handling data Exchange, also you need think of reserve line for requests answer logically, so mixing this is big problem, this can be realized with one Master and Slaves on one bus. Another (maybe better) idea can be use MB TCP instead of RTU via CM, try think also about this solution, you have Profinet port on CPU which can handle this. If you can. you can make 2 independed tests with your DCS, with RTU or TCP protocol. So?
