CMR 2020 SMS 'Storm'

I have installed a CMR2020, with latest 2.1.4 firmware.

An admin gets an sms whenever a fault occurs.

So a fault occurred and an sms was sent to the two admins

one admin had a fault on his phone account, and for some reason his network sent a message back to the CMR to say 'subscriber not available' or something like that.

then the CMR reads this sms as 'unauthorised' and made a warning SMS to the admins

the network bounced this SMS back to the CMR again

then the CMR reads this sms as 'unauthorised' and made a warning SMS to the admins

the network bounced this SMS back to the CMR again

This just kept going and going..

This happened so fast, that the 500 sms credit was used in 15 minutes!!!

Most likely, it is not a problem with the device. (Assuming of course that all the necessary settings have been made correctly to the CMR). The CMR did what it was planned to do. I had a similar problem sometime with another type of device (Web Relay). The problem was created by the receiver of the message. If I remember well, there was some setup on the device (cell phone).                    From what you said this is done by one of the two recipients of the message only. Is that right?            If the phone sends a message (any message) to the CMR, the device responds? Also, check the settings of the second device and set the one with the problem accordingly.

And, as ixo said already, start a support request.

Turns out,  if your account is suspended Vodacom block incoming messages and calls as well, now!  And it is this message that is 'returning' to the CMR.

This is a new thing, to pressure people to pay faster!!

So, I see that it is not really a Siemens issue, but i do need a plan. I cannot control the recipient's life to pay his bills..

My plan so far is to only send emails then for error logs only

SMS messages only for programmed functions.

So if an sms 'bounces' it will send an email - end of problem in this case.

I wonder if Siemens could make a " prevent cyclic sms's " button?

The diag for E-Mail is built up like this:

Sending e-mail failed. Last response of the server xxx. Internal error code: xx. Number of attempts: 1

The Server Response contains the error number for smtp - you can check it e.g. there https://www.iana.org/assignments/smtp-enhanced-status-codes/smtp-enhanced-status-codes.xhtml  or there https://www.supermailer.de/smtp_reply_codes.htm

The internal error is the libcurl error code, e.g there https://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html
