Hello, I am afraid that you will need at least an IM308C to connect new ET200M interfaces. The IM 153-1 is a PROFIBUS DP interface module acc. to EN 50170 and can be accessed by any standard PROFIBUS DP master. Within the SIMATIC product range, the following PLCs can be connected: - S5-115/135/155U with IM 308C S5-95U/DP-M (up to 3 modules, one of which can be parameterized) S5 configuring: with COM ET 200 Windows from V2.1 onward - S7-300/400 S7 configuring: STEP 7 from V2.1 onward See here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/4802097 And if you go for IM308C, Com Profibus is the alternative software for configuration. The compatibilityof Com Profibus islisted here: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/7479780 Above windows 2000, youwill have troubles. |

Hello Ena It is unfortunately just the way it isand has to do with the fact that COM ET200 uses/needs so called "Typefiles" (*.200 file extension) for the Slaves whereas COM Profibus (or any other "real" DP master config tool) use GSD files. There is unfortunately no "Typefile" available for the ET200M and a list of supportedIM308B supported Slaves can be found here: Configurable DP-slaves for IM 308B
Last time I installed COM ET200 was under the DOS shell of a dedicated Win98 bootpartition and while the install wasn't a "pleasent experience" it does work. I hope this helps and perhaps worthwhile considering to upgrade the S5 to an S7. |

Hello again Ena
It's probably the best for option for you unless you have a spare IM308C.
There's really only one oddity to watch out for from memory which is best explained in the FAQ below: Why is my ET200U slave not recognized by the S7 master? Apart from that (and the typical S5 code conversion cleanup related ones), I can't see any other problems. I hope this helps and good luck with your project |
