I have SIMATIC HMI TP1200 Comfort Panel (6AV2124-0MC01-0AX0),

and I would like to try (if possible) using this panel for a project WinCC Unified,

I know that there are special panels for these tasks - SIMATIC HMI Unified Comfort Panels (eg, MTP1200 6AV2128-3MB06-0AX),

My question is

can “old” Comfort Panelbe used (eg. TP1200  6AV2124-0MC01-0AX0) for a project WinCC Unified?

can i somehow update (eg, firmware etc.)

or physically (hardware) need another panel (eg, MTP1200 6AV2128-3MB06-0AX)?

Hi,

this is not possible. They are two incompatible devices that need to be loaded with different Projects.

If you want to try WinCC Unified you need to create a WinCC Unified device and can work with the build-In Simulation. (Simulation is not 100% accurate, but enough for testing in my opinion)

A Migration from Comfort to Unified Comfort is not possible.

And if I plan to use a panel with a WinCC Advanced project I have to use the corresponding panel

(eg. Comfort Panel TP1200 6AV2124-0MC01-0AX0)

These two panels are not interchangeable,

For example, the WinCC Advanced project cannot be started on the Unified panel?

This is very inconvenient for spare parts, need two sets of panels,

I thought the new panel for Unified would also support WinCC Comfort,

and if i have two projects one based on TP1200  6AV2124-0MC01-0AX0 and MTP1200 6AV2128-3MB06-0AX,

I thought that the “new” (MTP1200) panel will fully cover the functionality of the “old” panel (TP1200).

 This is correct. At the Moment the MTP can not cover all functionalities of the TP but has advantages in other functionalities.

Currently both are active products, so using a TP Comfort panel in my opinion is not a problem even in new plants.

Why do you think Siemens did this? 

For example, on a standart computer, you can run any project (if you have licenses) WinCC Unified or WinCC Advanced...

I understand that the panel is not a computer, but nevertheless ...

I got told, that the Unified Panels are a completely new hardware Platform, but also have a new Operating System.

They are based on Linux and not on Windows CE as previous comfort Panels.

Therefore no RT Advanced project can be run on them (as RT Advanced is only available for Windows).

This helped me understand the difference between Comfort Panels and Unified Comfort Panels.

but in my opinion this is extremely inconvenient,

why not let the user / customer decide which operating system to use?
For example, Siemens released a new panel, which supports and WinCC RT Advanced (on Windows CE) and Unified Comfort (on Linux), and enable the consumer to install the operating system on their own (depending on the task!)

Can convert from comfort to unified comfort using the Data2unified add-on (also basic panels to unified basic)
