TQ The sinamics S120 drive system is a multi-motor system so yes you can connect S120 Motor Modules to a common DC bus. However you need to take into account the number of drive objects that you are using. I would try to setup your configuration with Sizer to see what you can achieve with your modules You can dowload sizer from the following link. http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/35401312

In sinamics, the infeed modules are referred to as line modules, and there are three types: Basic, Smart, and Active. SLM refers to a Smart Line Module. As stated earlier, all S120 motor modules (booksize and Chassis) can use a common DC bus supplied from one of the Line modules. Basic Line modules (BLM's), are infeed modules that do not have regen capability. Smart line modules( SLM's)have regen capability Active Line modules(ALM's)have regen capability and actively regulate the Common DC bus. If you are going to use a S120 motor module, then you should also use a S120 line module, and not your old SIMOVERT P infeed. Can you give me more information of what motor module(s) you will require? Regards, Greg

Drives_Coach Posts: 133 Rating: (13)	In a common DC bus system the design of the converter (AC to DC)and inverters (DC to AC)is an integral approach and evencordinated designs havelimitations on capacitence and precharge that were verified through system test. Below is from an ealier post I made on a similar question. I have heardof some cases where a6SE70 MASTERDRIVES rectifierfeeding S120 Motor Modules was used and sending a binary signal into P864 that the DC link is ready. In this case or in any case powering the DC link from a non SINAMICS S120 Line Module you are probably going to be "Off the Reservation"( asaying meaning on your own ).This is because the pre-charge circuit, allowable capacitence, and logic/control/protection/faults is a major part of designing a common DC bus drive system. This must be Engineered, designed andtestedto guarantee an operational system.
