Communicating on L1 to S7300

Siemen-Stains Posts: 101 Rating: (0)	Hello All! Here are the details, I have S5 PLC interface module (part no: 6ES5 308-3UC11 (single width slot) connected to 135 rack with 928B processor. I want to communicate to an S7300. My understanding is you can communicate using the FMS protocol only (i.e. layer 7) and I think this is through dedicated function blocks which would have to be purchased for both the S5 end and the S7 end. Can anyone provide more details please? Thanks in advance! SS

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 10/3/2024 Posts: 3023 Rating: (1054)	Hello Siemen_Staines the IM308C (6ES5 308-3UC11) that you have is a Profibus DP card and allows DP Master or DP Slave functionality but NOT FMS (not too sure where you got hat information from). You'll find plenty of examples how to link it to an S7 in the link below and more stuff (manuals, FAQ's etc.) can be found HERE. What master/slave communication options are available on PROFIBUS DP? Siemen-Stains Posts: 101 Rating: (0)	Great info thanks Fritz! I also noticed the 6ES5 308-3UC11 was superceded by the 6ES5 308-3UC21, but I assume the 6ES5 308-3UC11 can still perform the task. [schnippschnapp] new question is splitted to I am looking for a GSD file for COM PROFIBUS 5.1 for the a 315 PN/DP.
