Communication between 315-2pn/dp and old 315-2dp with CP343-1 (EX10)

MGW Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	Hello all, I have been reading through a lot of data on the support site and have some clues about setting up data exchange between an integrated ethernet PLC and a CP343-1 but nothing is 100% clear. I have 3 off 315-2pn/dp PLC's all communicating on S7-connections all good! I even set up comms to an S7-200 on S7-connection easily. I now have to exchange a small amount of data from one of my new PLC'sand an existing PLC. The existing customer PLC is a 315-2dp (315-2AF03-0AB0 V1.2) and CP343-1 (343-1EX10-0XE0 V1.0). If i try to add an unspecified S7 connection in the customers project in Netpro I get error 'No valid connection could be established between the local and remote partners...' There are no connections set up in this PLC except there is a Profibus network using integrated DP. The CPU properties for communications look default. I don't understand why I can't use S7-connection. I have tried to set up a TCP connection using AG_Send / Recv in CP PLC and with Tcon/Tsend/Trcv..etc inmy PN PLC based on siemens examples. The connection seems to 'connect' (Tcon) in the PN PLC butno sending/receiving starts. In the CP PLC the AG_Send/Recv blocks are not working at all.If this is the way to go, how do I set up a TCP connection and what blocks do I need in each PLC.The webexamples are for PN/PN or CP/CP TCP comms.A better working example would be very much appreciated or an easier method using S7-connection or anything! Ethernet communications so complicated between PN / CP interfaces! Or if a newer CP leancard would work easier the customer may be persuaded to buy one! Please help.

You try to configure a connection, and theerror that you get is because a configuredS7 connection cannot be unspecified. It would be enough to add a copy of the HWConfig of your new CPUs in the old project. Of course you must configure exactly the same in your new project. To avoid errors doing that, You could also define a multiproject. You add your old one and the new one in the multiproject. And you create S7 connections between the modules located in the projects of the multiproject. J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear MGW, hmmm... well, I know that we have a sample for this configuration... but I do not find it right now... I hope I will find it on Mondays. But about the S7-Communication I can tell you that the Lean CP is not able to handle S7 Connections actively so if you configure single sided Connections on the PN CPU this CPU may use PUT / GET to retrieve or to write data from / to the CPU 315-2DP. Well now I try to put some pieces together to get you some information about the configuration and programming of such a connection. 1. At the beginning we need a connection configured for the PN CPU. This is due to the fact that certain restrictions may appear that have to be considered in the next step. To do this I would recommend the use of the application: Generating the Connection Data for the open TCP/IP Communication using the Open Communication Wizard It offers a Tool to configure the connection DB you need to use later in the program. 2. Now we need to configure this connection in the CP, this has to be done in NetPro. Here you need the parameters selected in the Open Communication Wizard and you have to put them in exchanged order in the Connection you have to configure here. Sadly only a good sample for TCP is offered here, usually it should not be an issue to do this also with other protocols like ISO on TCP or UDP, if you need assistance here... just ask. How do you configure a TCP connection on the S7 side (CP x43-1)? 3. The next step is to program the PN CPU, this has to be done depending on the protocol you are about to use. Try these FAQ about it: How do you program the communication blocks FB63 "TSEND", FB64 "TRCV", FB65 "TCON" and FB66 "TDISCON" in order to use the ISO-on-TCP protocol for data exchange via the integrated Industrial Ethernet interface of an S7-300 or S7-400 CPU or via the CP443-1 Adv? How do you program the communication blocks FB63 "TSEND", FB64 "TRCV", FB65 "TCON" and FB66 "TDISCON" in order to use the TCP protocol for data exchange via the integrated Industrial Ethernet interface of an S7-300 or S7-400 CPU? How do you program the communication blocks FB67 "TUSEND", FB68 "TURCV", FB65 "TCON" and FB66 "TDISCON" in order to use the UDP protocol for data exchange via the integrated Industrial Ethernet interface of an S7-300 or S7-400 CPU? 4. At last you need to program the AG_SEND / AG_RECV in the PLC with the CP. A good sample that shows the How-to may be found at: How do you program the communication blocks FC5 and FC6? Done. Personally I would recommend the use of ISO on TCP Connections because they have many advantages compared with TCP Connections but many people insist on these. I hope you will get a way through this. Maybeit willbe a chance to get a full sample if you ask for it, maybeat the "Suggestion for the entry" option. Best regards J_Bell
