Dear people,

I have a CPU315-2DP and i want to send data to a printer(Sato CL4NX). Next to my CPU315-2DP i have placed a CP343-1. Because i want to work with ethernet. Between the CP343-1 and the printer i placed a switch (Scalance X212-2). I can ping the printer with my laptop. So i think the communication is fine but i want to send data from the CPU315-2DP to the printer. I have already try to work with AG_SEND. When i try this i get the status 8181H ( job is acitve). But the problem is he never go to done=1. 

Can someone help me with this problem?

I'm missing important infos about correct prepared connection (IPs, Subnet, ID). In this case your PLC is Client and printer is Server, you need establish active connection to printer, this mean your connection ID must be inserted to input parameter of AG_SEND. I expect also correctly defined send memory buffer with filled bytes as printer needs. With this info you need define also correct LEN parameter, how long your send message will be. Look to AG_SEND instruction and chcek everythink. You can also post online picture of AG_SEND instruction with defined I/O parameters. Output parameters DONE, ERROR and STATUS can show situation what you need look for.

The following ip adress of the components are:

PLC: IP 10.128.40.1  subnet 255.255.0.0

Switch: IP 10.128.40.252 subnet 255.255.0.0

Printer: IP 10.128.40.4 subnet 255.255.0.0

laptop: IP10.128.40.2 subnet 255.255.0.0

And i want to send a whole string to the printer. So i have set the LEN to 255. You can see in the picture what i have done with the AG_SEND.  If i set M7.0 to 1 then done and error stay at 0 and the status say 8181H. If i set M7.0 to 0, Done and error stay again 0 and the status says 0000.

this is not enough info, sry. Can you also show picture about your connection definition? What TCP port did you set for connection to printer? Did you also create and select TCP subnet for CP343?In your AG_SEND input field SEND you can only set your DB name and structure field name like (in this case DB1 has name "TCP_SEND" and static field name TX):

"TCP_SEND".TX

In this case you send from 0 offset with your defined LEN. Make always input field EN connected. Try for test only connect PC application Hypetreminal or other free TCP application and set it with printer's connection settings. You can then see if your PLC data will be send to Hyperterminal (as like to printer). Don't forget to check output fields like DONE and ERROR via conditions, not visually.

I have make some more pictures about my program. You can see in the pictures my hardware configuration and some settings i have made. If i want to create a TCP subnet there is something i think is not correct like you can see in the pictures. I hope you can see on the pictures what i have already try and maybe you can see what i have done wrong. I have invite some pictures of difference way i try to send data to the printer.
I hope you can help me what i have done wrong.

ok, you need set on HW4 picture - Set Active connection, you need initiate connect to Server-printer. But what you have on another side, what SW or real printer? Now I see that my recommendation about SEND input parameter type was correct, I see your send string. But again to that connection, if you click on TCP connection, you need there define respective IP and Port of unspecified partner (printer). This picture I'm missing in your zip. Without this you can't connect to printer/PC test SW. Did you try connect your PC SW as I've sugested? Don't make tests with printer now because you loose time. For you is now important check connection established to PC SW emulated printer and then outgoing mesaage from your PLC to it. If some message will arrive, then you can check internal structure of messag if it's correct. If you will have this done, connect to your printer and test printing.

On the other side i have a Sato CL4NX printer and this work with difference protcol like (SBPL,SZPL,SIPL,STCL,SDPL) i think. I have also put the missing pictures in the attachment i have like you can see in the pictures set the partner on the IP adress of the printer also i have set the port on 9100 i have found this port in the settings of the printer.

And thank you for the tip with using hyperterminal i'm gone download a program and test it and let you know what i get on the aplication.

I have try to work with hyperterminal but i don't recieve anything. I have make more pictures of what i have done. Maybe i forget something. I have also work with counters on done en error so i can see how many times they have already set and i see that i have a lot of errors and also a couple done. But stil i don't recieve anything.

did you set in your PLC connection checkbox to Set active establishment? Your PC Hyperterminal is Server so you need click on Menu Call->Wait for a call. You can also check this locally on PC with another instance of Hyperterminal and connect to that Server Hyperterminal to test typing chars if reach to it. If all is ok disconnect from Client Hyperterminal, check if Server Hyperterminal is again waiting for call and connect from PLC, make tests.

can you confirm that Hyperterminal working as Server? I must say I use my applications Client and Server not Hyperterminal, but I see probably some problem with it's functionality as Server, no problem if I call from another Hyperterminal instance but problem from external devices. This can be also your problem. Try find another free SW, with serial communication looks like Hyperterminal working ok but not with TCP protocol as Server.
