Communication between CPU414-4 H and InTouch 9

These are communicating over industrial ethernetvia two CP 443-1 modules with WonderwareInTouch v9.0 running on a Windows Server 2003 SP1system. The Wonderware DASSIDirect I/O driver isused for communication. The system is working fine and InTouch iscommunicating with the Master CPU. My question is if InTouch attempts to communicate with the redundant CPU, is it normal to expect the DASSIDirect I/O driver to give connectiontimeout errors? I know this is an unusual question because InTouch should not attempt to communicate with the redundant CPU but it would help us with system diagnostics. Thanks in advance, Kevin

Thanks Hi KevC, In the Wonderware you can achive this by using the Scrip for the Node for that write the logic in PLC Which CPU is Master you will Find the Block Here & switch the Node in the woderware side by using the Script. But you have to Spend more time on wonderware side to work.

After (Ammy is right ) you can switch this connections manually from InTouch script. In this way you will have fault tolerant connection without using S7-REDCONNECT license. In other way you could use S7REDCONNECT SW and license from Siemens to support s7-fault tolerant connection. But you should use DASS7 Server. There you define just one connection, not two. Even more - you don't define, you select this connection from SIMATICNET configuration. If working Ethernet card will loose connection, exactly S7-REDCONNECT will switch you to standby card. First way is cheaper, but I thing second is more professional (the word is not exactly professional but..) Just my opinion. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev
