communication between ET 200 (IM153-1) and Yokogawa Profibus card

Dear Experts,

I need a help in communication between ET 200 (IM153-1) as a slave (remote I/O) with Yokogawa profibus card NFLP 121 as a master ,I need to check the pin assignment of ET 200 module also any needed configuration for ET 200 module

What do you mean exactly by the "pin assignment" of the IM 153-1? Are you enquiring about the pinout of the Profibus cable, the module U-Connectors? In any case, ot is highly recommended that you use Pofibus cables and connectors to link the Profibus slave (IM 153-1) and your Yokogawa master. This allows you to set termination resistors at both ends of the network, and takes care of grounding issues that can affect your transmissions, among other settings. 

Here, for initial information, is the manual for the ET 200M Profibus/Profinet distributed I/O system, including the IM 153-1:

To setup an IM 153-1 and its I/O modules as a slave to your Profibus master, you mut integrate the ET 200M gsd file in your Profibus master's configuration software. The Yokogawa website mentions SyCon as their Profibus configuration tool. Read up on how to insert a gsd file so you can setup an external Profibus slave.

In the following link you will find the gsd files available for the ET 200M family of distributed I/O; locate the correct part number of the IM 153-1 you are using, download the file and insert it in SyCon, as described in the SyCon manual. Then insert the I/O modules in the slave configuration so you can link these to the Profibus master memory and addresses. 

Note that you must use the IM 153-1 dipswitches to set the Profibus slave address on the interface module, and it must match the Profibus address attributed to it via SyCon.

Dear Dcharier,

Kindly i did configuration via Sycon Putting GSD file of IM 153-1 , configure slave address ... etc. and connect the IM 153-1 and NFLP 121 together by Profibus cable with two connectors with Part No. (6ES7-972-0BA20-0XA0) but when i connect the communication cable BF led of IM module  flashing and the communication not established (Note that i need to establish the communication for IM module as slave without any connection to Siemens CPU )

Kindly, you must place yourself in a mindset where a Profibus-DP slave will work the exact same way whether the Profibus master if from Siemens or from any other manufacturer. Profibus standards ensure that.

You show a BF LED active on a Profibus slave; this means "Bus Fault" and indicates that there is an addressing problem on the slave. Either the  Profibus node address is not defined correctly with the Dip Switches on the front of the IM 153-1, or the addresses used to reach the IM 153-1 I/O modules ( so defined in Sycon are not correct.

First step: what slave node address are you using (in Sycon) for the ET 200 M station (IM 153-1 + S7-300 I/O modules)? The node address was determined in your Sycon configuration. Does it match the Dip Switch setting on the front panel of the IM 153-1? Compare with the settings in the screenshot below, taken from an older ET 200M manual.

Adjust the Dip Swirches so the Sycon node address and the IM 153-1 address defined match. If you change the Dip Switch settings, you must power down and restart the IM 153-1 for the new address to be effective. 

If this step is not enough to fix your problem and you need  further diagnostics we would need to see a screenshot of the Sycon file for the ET 200M slave.

Hello Saleh;

I am not an expert on Sycon but I have worked with it during certain projects that involved a mixture of providers for Profibus communications. You seem to have done the configuration in a very detailed and efficient way. I see no glaring mistakes that would cause a Bus Fault on the IM 153-1.

For your next step I can suggest you use the Sycon online diagnostic functions. I remember we used a Debug window to get diagnostic information on the slaves we were connecting to. The Live List could be of use here, as it details the Profibus nodes it detects on the network.

The doubt I have is that in your zipped file you show the dipswitches of a IM 153, but there are 8 switches, whereas in the screenshot I proposed there are only 7 switches to select the address of an IM 153-1 (an IM 153-2 has 8 switches). It might be that there is a mismatch in the dip switch reading, and you might find that your Life List could show the presence of a slave at address 6.

Tell us the results of the diagnostic tests.

As stated earlier, I am hardly an expert with Sycon. But generally, diagnostic functions in a Profibus configuration software would require to be Online in order to provide diagnostics. Do you have that possibility in your version of Sycon?
