Communication between S7-300F and S7-1500 with PNIO

andreas_CHE Experienced Member Joined: 7/25/2011 Last visit: 3/14/2025 Posts: 20 Rating: (0)	Hello. I have delivered at machine with S7-1511 PLC and distributed PN IO. This is working perfect. This machine is a part of a production line and need to communicate with the line controller, a S7-317F PLC. For communicate they normally have a ethernet card in S7-300 PLC, and set this card as a PNIO device, in this way you got fast and stable communication with other PLC's. I have a CP1543-1 card that was supposed to use for this communication, but as I can see, this card does not support PN IO. They will not have my PN IO devices at the same network as line controller. Is there a way to have two subnets at S7-1511, one for its own IO devices, and one for communicate with the higher S7-317F controller? Best regards Andreas Frebrich.

Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (128)	Hello andreas_CHE, thisconstellation could work: you can use the PROFINET interface of the PLC to communicate with your devices.The CP1543-1 you use to communicate to the S7-300 PLC via Ethernet and using the open communication blocks. You could use the S7-1500 as PN/IO controller for its divices and the CP for communicating with the S7-300. Why not using a standard S7-connection between those two PLCs? Or did I get something wrong?

For this project the producer of this line controller want to use PN IO, because it is faster than the other communications, and they want the same systems for all machines. My solution will be an PN/PN coupler, then I can communicate with the other PN IO subnet. Maybe there soon will be possible to use S7-1500 as an PN IO controller and device. Best regards Andreas
