Communication CPU416 and CPU315-2 PN/DP

huevon Posts: 7 Rating: (0)	I have read a lot of topics already, and i am always redirected to the use of the open communication wizard. I still wonder why i cannot simply add an S7 connection, download this and use the standard send/receive blocks? I mean, i can add a connection in both plcs in netpro, i am able to download this to my cpu416, but for some reason i cannot download the connection to my CPU315-2PN/DP. Netpro blocks this option, so it is even not possible to try to download this connection. I also wonder why i cannot access this CPU315-2pn/dp with my standard CP1613. With my standard ethernetcard i can access it, but my CP1613 doesnt work for this PLC, but it works fine for my CPU416. [schnipp schnapp]

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Dear Huevon, well, first of all let me explain something first. A S7-Connection is for S7-Communication. S7-Communication uses either: PUT / GET, BSEND / BRECV or USEND / URECV. These blocks are not comparable to the AG_SEND / AG_RECV Blocks wich I would call "Standard SEND / RECV Blocks". The AG_SEND / AG_RECV Blocks only work with CP’s, not with CPUs. These Blocks only work on Layer 4, S7-Communication works on Layer 7. Well, now back to your problem. First of all, you surely configure a S7-Connection between the CPU416-3 and the CPU 315 PN/DP as long as you use Industrial Ethernet as a media, PROFIBUS or MPI will NOT work.Ethernethas to work, no doubt. The only problem that may arise is that you need a slightly up to date STEP7 Software, which version do you run right now? About the CP 1613 I must admit that this sounds quite strange, because the CP 1613 has to work too... but what I do not know is how many S7 Connections you already use with your S7-300. The resources for S7-Communication are rather limited. So if you are online with your standard NIC check the CPU online to figure out how may S7-Ressources are already in use. I guess this could get us a step ahead. Best regards J_Bell
