Heß Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have trouble configurating a system that has to communicate with a Emerson Delta V by Profibus DP. The costumer asked me to provide 2 DP slaves in order to communicate, but I can not find a suitable slave for my system configuration. I'm using a redundant S7 414, a part of ET200M I/O and a part with ET200S I/O trough an Y-link (see attached configuration) and want to place the DP-slaves in a ET 200M rack. At this moment I also have a thread running for an error popup I get when trying to fit in a CP module in one of the ET200M racks [URL=/tf/WW/en/Posts/13177]"ZS capability error"[/URL] Is there anybody who is familiar with communication to a Delta V, or otherwise a simular communication? Why do you need two DP Slaves? Is it needed to connect two DP Master Systems? Just to post a view of my questions. Best regards J_Bell

I have been searching the www about it but I fail to understand their differences I suggest that a interface is for the connection of 2 Master systems, where a slave only gets commands from a master. [Master] ---------------->[DP slave interface]<---------------[Master] [Master]------>[DP slave] To get back to your questions to clearify the matter: - I need to communicate a command (an integer value), and about 23 setpoints (reals or integers). - ? - I need two DP slaves because of a redundant connection, where the redundancy is handled by the Delt V sytem -Yes, both Delta V partners are master I hope this helps you to understand my problem Attachment HW-config.GIF (695 Downloads)

You have a redundant H System on S7 side that needs to connected as a DP Master System to another DP MasterSystem that is also redundant (Delta V) and this has to be done on DP, am I right so far? If so I see a little mess, but a possible solution too. There is on SIMATIC side the possibility to use a so called Y-Link, this is a redundant DP Slave and connects to DP Masters Systems to single sided DP Slaves. On this side you can connect a DP/DP Coupler which is a Device that is DP Slave on both sides. There you can transfer up to 244 Bytes, if I remember right, in between the two Master Systems. I just wonder... is it not possible to do any other connection.... with TCP/IP for example? Best regards J_Bell

Heß Posts: 3 Rating: (0)	J_Bell, you understood it petty well. Your solution of using a DP/DP coupler already croosed my mind, but I hoped for a solution with a higher data amount transfer option. It is of cause possible to communicate a lot of data over several cycles, but there is a lot of programming involved doeing it that way. Using one of the existing Y-links is not possible due to power supply reasons and therefor loss of availebility. The 'cheaper' possibility is inserting the DP/DP coupler in the MASTER bus, directly connected to the S7/400. If one of those fails the Delta V will handle the redundancy. If both fail there is no process controll and noting to communicate anyway. And you are totally right about using TCP/IP communication, but out of safety/redundancy reasons our customer preferres the profibus link for 'important' signals. Other communication will be done by Ethernet, TCP/IP. But as it seems, there is not an easy solution for this problem.
