I have searched the forums but could not find any topics regarding this specific issue.

We have a factory with several independent machines controlled by their own S7-300. In some cases there are 315 PN/DP PLC and some PLCs have CP cards.These PLCs are all connected to the same industrial ethernet network. Our customer is now installing a new machine which needs communication to other machines in the factory. It's equipped with 4 DP/DP couplers for connection.

One option would be to pull profibus-cables to all of the machines and interfaces them directly. But we don't have time to do this.

So my idea is to insert an 315-2 DP PLC with a CP-343-Lean card inside the new vendors machine. In this way i can interface all the existing PLCs through the CP-card and forward it via Profibus to new vendors DP/DP-couplers.

I wanted to create my new project in Tia portal V13 and use Put/Get to interface the existing PLCs. I also want to minimum the alterations of the existing PLC projects and mainly program my new PLC. But i am having trouble setting this up. I have access to projects of existing PLCs/machines.

Questions:

Is it better to use Simatic Manager for this?  

How much configuration is necessary on the existing PLCs?

Is there a different way of programming towards PLC with CP-card than with a PLC with PN interface?

Do you really want to couple 2 CPUs via 4 coupler? And install an own PLC for just for this?

you can do this, but this is more work and don´t save time. You have to establish 4 connection and forward this to 4 coupler(4 connections more)

If you don´t want to save time, tell the customer to insert a CP at his machine and establish S7-connection to each of the other machines.

 I am sorry to say the vendor is so pressed on time that he's not able to do the workaround in his software. In reality the 4 DP/DP couplers will be connected in daisy chain so i will have 4 slaves on my one DP-bus.

I actually have 5 CPUs/CPs that needs their signal routed through my "link"-PLS. We don't have the cables or equipment to do it any other way. The "link" PLS we will insert is something our customer had laying around.

ok, so do it like you suggested.

but pay attention that the S7-300 with CP343-1 lean can only be server with S7-connection and PUT/GET.

You are correct. The CP-Lean card only has server-functionality.

We managed to get hold of an CPU315-2 PN/DP so now we are able to communicate with CP-cards from the different machines.
