Did you need anything special concerning Modbus comms with a GE F650?

Yeah, I'm having troubles understanding GE 650 relay and it's Modbus (re)mapping.

For GE350series, it's not a problem, but here, with 650series, my head starts to hurt. :)

As I can see from manual, all addresses are written in HEX, and above 60000. For most applications, I noticed that Siemens requires an offset of 40000(+1) in order for addresses to be read out correctly.

To shorten this. I need someone with experience of connecting S7-1200 PLC to GE650series via Modbus RTU RS485.

P485 converter cannot be discovered in HW Configuration in TIA Portal V13, but that's problem for another topic.

Here I use MB_COMM_LOAD and MB_MASTER blocks in order to read data from GE350series MFR.

People from GE are not too supportive, so I went and asked here, since here i always get an answer and a great support.

If I can be any more precise, or you need more details, i'll write them for you anytime.

Hello Dusan;

from the chapter on Modbus comms in this manual, it seems that the mapping of the Modbus registers is individually designed for each Ge F650 relay, and that they can be reached by standard Functions 3, 4 and 16, as any "normal" Modbus slave.

Have a look at chapter 8 in this link:

See if you can obtain the Modbus mapping of your relay through the F650PC software, and if it really is located in addresses 3000x and 40000x.

Hello Daniel,

I would need additional help. I am currently on site, and I can read out exact addresses using Modbus reader tool MbPoll Master tool. Address I want to read out is "209". When I enter that address in that tool I get exact information. When I enter it in TIA V13 40001+209="40210", and I get exact information.

Problem is in the following. I need to use 650's Modbus User Map, in order to remap Modbus addresses so I can read it all in one sequence, because I need to read a lot of random data with different addresses with a lot of gaps in between.

When I do the remaping, its 62256-62511 for 256 registers. But how to enter 62256 in TIA V13? When I enter 62256 in MbPoll Master tool, I get information I need.

That is my problem. How to read out address 62256 in TIA V13 portal?

Please, any help would be much appreciated.

It seems quite complicated, for now, compared to method you've given me.

But here I get an error when i want to associate Modbus_Master block to Modbus_comm_load block. Is this method proven/possible?
