Miguel Allende Posts: 35 Rating: (0)	Hi. I have programmed many ethernet links in my PLC(I have to communicate with 9 PLC). The problem is that all of them are active in the software but I only have now my PLC and the net is very slow because my PLC does not "see" the other nine. I would like to disable the SFB12 when the link is not active in order to avoid the program to tray the communication if the link is broken. How can I read the link status of every link? With this bit I will be able to disable the blocks. Thanks.

The problem is that when there is not any PLC the network of the PLC is getting collapse because it is trying to communicate with many devices that are not present. I can solve it disabling the communication FC's, but I need to know when these devices are in the net. (What I want is to have bit status like when I go online in the network configuration and see link active or not)... Thanks.

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (265)	Maybe you can implement Star topology logically? I mean 1 PLC is "main", only this PLC communicates with other PLC. It gathers status of every connection and sends it to every PLC.... Not too good solution - but al least you can check whether your net's behaviour is bound with high load.

After calling the system function with the value 1 at control input EN_R, the current status of the connection belonging to the communication SFB instance selected with I_DB is queried. The paramter I_CONN of the SFC62 has the following meaning: I_CONN OUTPUT BOOL I, Q, M, D, L Status of the corresponding connection, possible values: • 0: Connection down or notestablished • 1: Connection exists Have o look to this manual: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/1214574 Chapter 21.16

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, well another choice would be to use the diagnostics features of the SCALANCE X if it is used as a PROFINET IO Device. In this case you may monitor if a Port is up or down. This way you can, if a Port is dedicated to a PLC, see if a connection has to be build up or is down or anything. The only important issue here is the direct relation between Port, PLC and Connection. Best regards J_Bell
