But it will be done by Ethernet, not by RS485. Are you sure that you can't utse Ethernet? Else, in RS485 you can send regulary the values as ASCII and read it on PC by HyperTerminal or some selfmade software (note that e.g. the PC have RS232 interface and you will need to convert it).

I prezented the configuration that I have. If I can use that configuration to comunicate on modbus is OK but I have problem writing the program .

Best regards Hi, you said that can use Ethernet and that you need to see on a computer the state of the inputs and outputs. In this case you can active the web interface of S7-1200 and set to publish a Watch table with his variables (few mouse clicks). That has nothing to do with modbus. You will access the data by Internet Explorer.

But right now I need to comunicate on RS 485 becouse on that computer it is a prgram that need the data to analize automatic and for that I need to send the data on rs 485 . I have made a program for that but for testing I only have a laptop wits rs 232 . I have a convertor rs 485/ rs232 (db9) but I do not have the pin connetion for the cables. Can somebody send me the connection for thouse 2 cables ? Best Regards Petre

Kaulquappe Posts: 3093 Rating: (324)	Hello Pepe, RS485 is always connected R- to R- R+ to R+ and GND to GND for S7-1200 see also section A12.4.2 of the manual. RS232 without auxiliary signals is connected RX to TX TX to RX GND to GND Regards, Kaulquappe

It's been over a month since when I started reading about the communication on RS485 an I have 0 resultates . I'm running out of time . Please if somebody can help me I uploaded a configuration in TIA portal V11 . I need only to send on RS485 to a computer all the Inputs and outputs (the state of inputs and outputs) from this configuration . Can somebody give me a solution ? Best regards! My problem was with the cables . For cable RS 232 -DB9 : pin 2-3 ; pin3-2; pin5-5 For cable RS 485 -DB-9 : pin to pin . Now I have another problem . I need to sent data to the computer onli when the computer asks. How do I do that ? Best regards !
