Communication with barcode reader

Iulian_84 Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	I have a small problem, I don’t know how to communicate with a barcode reader, Microscan or Keyence on Profinet. Do you have some examples for this kind of communication? Communicate: trigger the scanner at a certain time and receive the code. I use CPU315 2PN/DP Best regards,

Pittiplatsch Posts: 1368 Rating: (128)	Hello Iulian_84, if the barcode scanner is a profinet device, you can bind it on the profinet controller (S7-300) via GSDML file. Your barcode scanner will get input and output addresses for the status and control byte and for the user data. The meaning of the bytes you can see in the manual. Over this byte, the PLC and the barcode scanner communicate each other. Fafner Silver Member Joined: 3/20/2013 Last visit: 3/24/2025 Posts: 676 Rating: (44)	hey, then the "PROFINET" communication is not possible. what you can do is to communicate over open user communication like tcp or udp, if you have information about the behaviour of thereader.for open user communication you need the T-instructions (T_CON; T_SEND; T_RCV; T_DISCON). What you exactly have to send to your readers depends on the reader, of course. So perhaps it is a good idea to speak with the manufacturer of the readers/read the manual? Best regards, Fafner
