compatibility of the CPUS

As due to continuous up-gradation of technology, MLFB of the CPU gets Changed day by day. For an Example CPU314. Latest MLFB is 6ES7314 1AG14 0AB0 V3.0. In one of my last Project, i used CPU314 was having MLFB 6ES7314 1AG13 0AB0. Now Customer wants a Spare CPU314 with 6ES7314 1AG13 0AB0. Now as CPU314C with this MLFB 6ES7314 1AG13 0AB0 is not available i will recommand him to take latest one. But in case if old CPU Fails then this new CPU will be Plug & Play? (by plugging MMC Card) or i have to replace part no in hardware Configuration and have to downlaod hardware? Thanks in advance.

Aret Posts: 2348 Rating: (264)	1) Generally older CPUs are usually available as spare part for certain period of time, despite you can't order them (i mean concept, not these modules in particular) . 2) During replacing MMC please mention, that completely new CPU would perform COLD restart, thus resetting values in DBs to initial. 3) I would recommend following sequence - before changing CPU make upload station to PG, change CPU with reinserting MMC and re-download whole station.

When you use compatible follow-up types you can always work in the STEP 7 project with the order no. of the predecessor types.

Configuration with older software versions:
If the new functions are not required, the new module can be configured in STEP 7 as the predecessor with the latter's scope of functions. The larger work memory is nevertheless available.

In Hardware Config	Actual Hardware
6ES7314-1AG13-0AB0	6ES7314-1AG14-0AB0

It is also not necessary to upgrade the STEP 7 software version in this case.
