Coms Error Timer

Hi,

On various S7 system we are getting intermittent Profibus DP communication errors, that last for only a second or so. Of course the best solution is to resolve the root cause of the problem, but we also want to put in a timer of a few seconds to effectively bridge over these short communication errors. How can this be done? We need a solution that is works for both inputs and outputs.

did you check the diagnostig buffer of your PLC? Any entries - which OB is called?

What I'm looking for is a solution, that works for both inputs and outputs, that effectively ignores coms errors that last for only say 1 second.

I'm considering increasing the Bus Parameters Watchdog time to 2-3 seconds. Will this achieve what I'm after?

Hi,

The Step 7 help says that the slaves use the watchdog time to reset outputs after a bus failure.

Does the master also use the watchdog time to reset the inputs after a bus failure? If not, how can the master timeout be set?
