comunication S7 with IM 308

erwin... Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	It might connect in the central unit of a S7, the IM 308 (S5). Might this one communicate IM with the CPU S7? Thank you.

Late Platinum Expert Joined: 1/7/2006 Last visit: 12/23/2024 Posts: 2705 Rating: (320)	Dear Erwin, The IM 308C can be used as a slave behind the S7-master and could be also S5-master, the IM 308C is the only Profibus Master that could be also Slave on the same time. See under STEP7 the configuring of the hardware and see then under "PROFIBUS DP" --> "SIMATIC" --> "IM308-C DP-Slave", there you might place the IM308C on a Profibus DP of a S7 with a DP-port (or a CP DP-Master) and give up the data that you want to communicate. Please consider that the IM 308C have to be programmed with COM Profibus V5.1 SP2 HF3 (or something like that) and that you for your own sleep first program one byte output from S7 to one byte input of the S5. When that is working you can easily make it the way you want. If you have different Baudrate on both Profibus networks then you could use a DP/DP-coupler.
