How do you establish a MODBUS-RTU communication with STEP 7 (TIA Portal) for the SIMATIC S7-1200? Hope this helps.

Are you using the ethernet port on the ATV12? I do not know the ATV12.. but are you sure it is not a "modem type" plug? Ethernet and RS485 are not compatible. Normally for these drives you have an address which you write to. The drive should be set to listen to this. It is the same setting that you set when using analog as setpoint. Alternatively have the PLC change the parameter which you would set the speed of the drive. It may be that you should give it an ENTER command. I suggest: Download the full user manual for the drive. There should be a chapter dedicated on how to use the communications. Good luck. w
