PCS Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hello, I have a quite strange question about the Scalance W. To change the SSID of a Scalance W you can use the web application or Command Line. We want to try to change the SSID of the Scalance W with a switch connected to the plc (CPU 315-2 DP). The Scalance W is also connected to the plc. When the switch is turned on A (for example) the SSID most be WLAN_A. When the switch is turned on B the SSID most change to WLAN_B. I hope the problem is clear. I have no idea if it is possible. I know there is a Application that uses SNMP Functioncalls to read some Data from the SCALANCE W or any ohter SNMP capable device, but I fear this will not allow you to change the SSID via the PLC Program. I have no idea for this... I would aprechiate if you have a solution for this. Best regards J_Bell

PCS Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hi, No I don’t think that we can use SNMP to configure the Scalance W. Is it possible to use an open TCP/IP communication connection? Maybe it is possible to use this communication and just using the sending part. On the next page this connection is explained. http://support.automation.siemens.com/NL/view/en/19553230 But the send and receive FB’s (OpenIE Step 7 program) are protected so I don’t know howthe program works exactly. But maybe you can try something with the FTP solution to reload the complete configuration. But I'd like to know in what kind of a application you want to use this maybe an other solution can help you like the multi SSID solution? Since FW 3.3.15 is released this is also possible with the W788-*PRO products.

PCS Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hi, Ok I try to explain our situation. We have a couple of machines standing next to each other. On all these machines there is one Access point. On all these machines we want to connect one part wireless. On this part we mount a client point. All the parts can be connected to all different machines. When we connect part A to machine A we want to configure the client point that it starts connecting witch access point of machine A. When we connect part A to machine B we want that client point A starts connecting witch access point of machine B. To avoid that the machines are standing still to long we want to configure the client points very easily and fast. I hope the explanation is clear. Best regards, PCS

They are easy to exchange and there is no knowledge about configuraing the AP's needed? Or just use two clients. And activate the correct one with the switch you mentioned.

PCS Posts: 9 Rating: (0)	Hi, Yes I have already thought about changing the C-Plug, but the devices are mounted inside a electric box and the antenna mounted some where else. So it is quite difficult to change the C-Plug. In my explanation I mention only two machines but actually there are more than 8 machines. To put 8 clients on one part is quite an expensive solution. But cant't you place the Scalance W sideways or something so you can still reach the back of the Scalance W? And are those 8 machines place in the same area? Or are there longer distances in between? Maybe you can screw the transmit power down so the machine will only be reachable by one client.
