Hello dear all, 

I want to establish a communication between a CPU S7-400 as master and a CPU S7-300 or a CP 342-5 as slave, via configured stations method and couple them.

I added a new S7-300 Station to configure the required station for communication (slave) in the S7-400 project, and also i could couple master and slave successfully.

But now, i have some questions to fulfillment this case:

1. What operations shuld be done in slave project, if my slave be a CPU S7-300 or a CP 342-5?

2. Is it need that the configuration for S7-300 (slave) station in the S7-300 project to be identical with the configuration for S7-300 (slave) station in the S7-400 project too?

3. If i use a CP 342-5 as slave device, where i should program the functions DP_SEND and DP_RECIEVE? in the S7-400 project, or in the S7-300 project?

4. Is it need to download changes to the S7-300 station, from the S7-400 project, or not; just we need to download the hw-config changes to S7-400 automation system?

5. When i use a CP 342-5 as slave device, i can define virtual IO in the S7-400 project, but i can not do this when my slave device is a CPU S7-300. what is the principle?

I have a bit of experience with Profibus-DP, and I have never heard of this "configured station" method .

If you mean that when you use an intelligent slave (i.e. a CPU or a CP 342-5) as a slave to a S7-300 or S7-400 master you must start by configuring the slave in its own program, then import that slave configiuration in the master's configuration, that is the normal way of using an i-slave.

Since the "configured statioon" method does not exist officially, it is difficult to find documentation on this theoretical construct. But in the following link, along with many other Profibus-DP samples, you will find examples of a S7-300 or CP 342-5 as master and slave, with step-by-step demonstration on how the link is built-up:
