configuring alarms

I try to configure alarms in my program, if the E-stop is pushed or a thermal overload occurs in the machine, i would like to display this in the alarms list from the HMI. According to what i find in the system manual from step7 basic v11 sp1chapter configuring an alarm, is that i need to create a FB with a name like ALARM or ALARM_8 and it will get the parameters automatic.... I tried this but with no result.... Also in the tab HMI ALARMS i tried to configure it but also with no result.... Is there someone that can advice me about this or maybe someone that has a small example program with configured alarms? Any help is apriciated. I use as above sayed Step 7 Basic V11 SP1, CPU 1214dc/dc/dc fw2, KTP600 Kind regards, Koen.
