configuring wincc v6 with multiple pairs of S5 Redundancy PLC

schreyer Posts: 65 Rating: (3)	Hi, I needsome helpfrom the experts here in this forum to share their expertise and guide me. All the while i had been working with S7 plcs using WinCC and normally i won't have to worry about communication between the redundant PLCs (as in at thepoint of time which plc is working or failed). I just configure the Tags under 'Named Connections' and Redconnect together with Netpro will do the rest of the work with some declaration using SIMATIC Manager. But for S5 PLCs, WinCC is configured according the individuals MAC address and TSAP of the PLCs. So how is WinCC suppose to know where to get its tags from(as in which PLC has failed at that instancewhen redundancy happens??) How do i go about configuring WinCC communication for multiple Sets of S5 Redundancy enable PLCs (eg:4 sets) to1WinCC Server or 2 WinCC Redundant Servers?? Thanks and regards Schreyer

You need the S5 Channel and the redundant - set to get the connection to work. The use of SIMATIC NET Redconnect will not work here because the S5 is not supporting S7-Connections at all. Ok, i read up about Redswitch but i'm still quite puzzle by S5 Channels. Isn't the S5 Channels alreadyinside WinCCdevices?? Thanks and Regards Schreyer

Nemo Posts: 3149 Rating: (171)	Hi, these S5-channels have been part of WinCC V4/V5. In WinCC V6 these channels are optional and distributed by the WinCC Competence Center in Erlangen - address mentioned above. nemo
