connect a single pulse input to a S7 314C 2PN/DP

h2_504 Experienced Member Joined: 11/8/2011 Last visit: 9/19/2023 Posts: 89 Rating: (1)	Dear all, How can I connect a device wich generates pulses at output (such a flowmeter for example) to a counter input of a 314C 2PN/DP? All I can find in the documentation are references to encoder input and both inputs (pulse and direction) are used. I can't find an example on how to count a single input, like a flowmeter in order to have a totalizer. Best regards, h2_504

From documentation I understand that pulse and direction are signals from an encoder, which from my knowledge are pulse trains one delayed from the other with 90 degrees. I could not find any reference in documentation to measuring only one pulse. How can be the direction up or down if I don't have a second pulse to wire it to direction input? I will simply not wire it? h2_504

Wizard Diamond Expert Joined: 4/24/2006 Last visit: 9/19/2024 Posts: 8739 Rating: (1168)	Hi h2_504 When you choose for Signal evaluation "Pulse and Direction" The first input will be connected to Pulse. And the second input will be direction. (Up or Down) When you choose "rotary encoder", you will be using a A and B signal. ps. Also have a look at the answer of Marcjan, in your other thread.
